Amidst the once-peaceful land of Sagaing and Mandalay, the aftermath of the earthquake has left behind scenes of devastation. The lively sounds of daily life have fallen silent, replaced only by the ruins of homes collapsed into heaps of rubble monuments of memory destroyed in an instant.

The Disaster Aid Thailand team walked through broken bricks and shattered walls, past wooden beams tilting as if ready to collapse again. These ruins were not just buildings they were the very lives and dreams of families, reduced to dust in a single night of terror.
Many survivors now stand under the burning sun with almost no shelter. Families huddle together under makeshift huts of wood and tarpaulin. Children sit hugging their knees, eyes heavy with exhaustion, while the elderly sit silently, drained of strength, waiting for help. Scarcity looms everywhere clean drinking water is scarce, rationed carefully among the families. Some are forced to scoop from contaminated wells just to survive. Medicines and medical supplies are also critically short, leaving the injured and chronically ill without proper care.

In the silence, heartbreaking sounds linger the cries of hungry children mixed with the dry coughs of the sick. Volunteers move quietly among them, offering comfort while documenting damage and assessing urgent needs. What the community needs most now is shelter, clean water, and medical aid.

Even amid such loss, a fragile hope still shines through the eyes of the survivors. They believe that helping hands from afar can lift them out of despair. That is exactly what Disaster Aid Thailand is determined to do to keep hope alive, even as broken bricks and fallen walls surround the people left behind.
