Earthquake Response 2025
In early 2025, a powerful earthquake struck Sagaing and Mandalay, leaving widespread destruction in its wake. Homes, health centers, and schools were reduced to rubble. Children lost not only their classrooms but also their sense of safety and stability.
Disaster Aid Thailand responded quickly, assessing urgent needs for shelter, clean water, and medical supplies. Among the most pressing challenges was the loss of schools, which meant children could not continue their education.

Rebuilding Schools
To restore hope for young learners, we supported the construction of a new classroom building at Yadanar Myint Zu Free Monastic School, Sagaing Hill. This new facility replaced one that had been destroyed by the disaster, giving hundreds of children a safe space to learn again.
For us, a school is more than just a building it is a symbol of resilience, opportunity, and the promise of a better future.

Clean Water for Students
Looking beyond immediate recovery, we are now preparing to install a SkyHydrant water filtration system (500 liters/hour) at Basic Education High School (Kyauk Mee), a school under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
This system will provide a sustainable supply of safe drinking water, ensuring that current and future generations of students can focus on learning, free from the risks of waterborne diseases.

Through these projects, Disaster Aid Thailand is committed to giving Myanmar’s children the tools they need to dream again, to learn again, and to believe again in a brighter tomorrow.
